The Context for Safeguarding Children Training
Government legislation and guidance has had a significant impact on safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. The aim of Every Child Matters and the Children Act 2004 is to maintain what works well in our involvement with children and families and to develop integrated services for children and young people.
This is a key priority for Doncaster's Safeguarding Children Board's partner agencies.
Inter-agency training has a key role in taking forward this agenda. 'Working Together to Safeguard Children'¹ emphasises the need for a skilled and knowledgeable workforce to work with children and families and recognises the importance of single and inter–agency training in achieving that goal.
‘Practitioners and managers must be able to work effectively with others both within their own agency and across organisational boundaries. This will be best achieved by a combination of single and inter–agency training’¹.
We aim to achieve these goals by bringing together multi disciplinary professional groups to deliver and receive high quality training, relevant to both the local and national agenda.
