Performance Sub Group

The Performance Sub Group is responsible for the monitoring of key performance indicators to ensure effective delivery of services relevant to the Safeguarding Children’s Board agenda.

The core function of the group will be to embed quality in all aspects of the Board’s work and output.  Areas requiring development should be identified early acting to pre-empt rather than responding to events.

The group will develop a Performance Management Framework to include the monitoring and effectiveness of what is done by the Local Authority and board partners, individually and collectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

The group will develop mechanisms for monitoring the effectiveness of the Board functions including the functions of the Local Safeguarding Board.

The group will plan and develop themed audits in relation to relevant areas of interest or requiring further analysis in keeping with findings from performance information.

The sub group will have a fixed core membership drawn from key organisations within DSCB.

Serious Cases Panel

The panel is responsible for considering cases where serious incidents have been reported to determine if the criteria for instigating a serious case review under Chapter 8 Working Together 2010 guidance.

The panel is also responsible for the investigation of cases brought to the attention of the DSCB where there is concern over single agency failure or to highlight lessons to be learnt where the criteria for a serious case review has not been met.

The panel will also consider gaps in service provision that could make children or young people vulnerable and direct the relevant agency respond accordingly.

Danger Free Zone

'Danger Free Zone' is the young peoples Participation Sub Group.  The group is chaired by an A Level student and the members range from 7 years old to 15 years old and live across the borough.  The sub group is supported by Doncaster Young People's Mentoring Scheme and staff from Action for Children.

This sub group ensures the business of the DSCB is considered by children and young people and their views are voiced through the chair and the reporting system.

The sub group works to a business plan and meets on a fortnightly basis.  Some of the issues raised by the sub group have been portrayed in a theatre production provided by Ridgewood School Theatre Group, led and supported by Mr Carl Jeffrey Head of Drama,  and the chair of the sub group.  The first of these productions on bullying and cyber bullying will be available for use with school PSHE groups in Doncaster.  

Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking and Runaway's Sub Group

The Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking and Runaways Sub Group is responsible for ensuring that up-to-date multi-agency procedures for Safeguarding children and young people who are at risk through sexual exploitation, trafficking and running away from home are in place. 
 
The sub group coordinates and responds to relevant national and regional consultations, develops and implements actions in the sub group work programme, DSCB Business Plan and produces a report to be incorporated it the DSCB Annual Report. 

The Sub Group maintains links with the Learning and Development Sub Group to promote an understanding of safeguarding issues and referral process for Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking and young runaways. 

The sub group will have a fixed core membership drawn from key organisations within DSCB.

Child Death Overview Panel

The Child Death Overview Panel is responsible for reviewing information on all child deaths and is accountable to the DSCB Chair.  The reviewing of child deaths became compulsory on the 1st April 2008, Working Together 2010, Chapter 7.
