The Licensing Act 2003 aims to ensure the provision of a family friendly culture at licensed premises, where children and young people can learn to socialise, integrate and drink responsibly within a safe environment. 

 

The DSCB is a Responsible Authority committed to partnership working with the Licensing Authority (Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council), partners and licensees to ensure that the licensing objectives to safeguard children and young people are met. 

 

To help support people who are responsible for managing licensed premises the DSCB has produced information which is available to download from this site.  The guidance aims to assist licensees understand their responsibilities towards providing a safe environment for children and young people whilst visiting their premises.  The following is available to download:

 

  • Protecting Children and Young People and the Licensing Act 2003 – this leaflet has been produced to provide information about protecting children and young people and the Licensing Act 2003 and what the licensees can do to reduce the risk of harm to children on their premises.  

  • Risk Assessment Tool – this has been designed to enable licensees to undertake an assessment when considering the potential risk to children and young people visiting their premises.  Children under the age of 18 visiting licensed premises include those who are customers, employees, relatives, friends and relatives.

  • The Children’s Safeguarding Champion – this is guidance on the role of the Children’s Safeguarding Champion, a member of staff who has been designated as lead for welfare and safeguarding issues on the premises. 

  • Poster – to ensue that parents and responsible adults are aware of the arrangements for children whilst on the licensed premises.
